Effects

The update of Spring 2012 brings Effects to Furcadia! This is a new layer of dreamweaving similar to objects, but they will go overtop of objects and even furres. This makes them especially useful for effects like weather, night, lighting and any place you want two objects in the same square. Following are some points to know about Effects:

One effect can be placed in each square of the map. In doing something like a night dither overlay, you will want to place a tile shaped dither effects in each square you want dark.
If an efffect is larger than one square you may want to choose carefully which squares the effects go in so they look the best.
Effects automatically go overtop furres. If you want it to cover the entire furre you will want to position it well over the furre's head.
You can use Kitterspeak to force the effect to be behind the furre. This works to make an animated effect move back in forth from behind to in front of furres. Effects will always be in front of objects though.
Effects do not have shape properties other than positioning. So they are not getable, un-walkable, etc, nor can they effect the furre position. (Hint: Use a region if you want it to be un-walkable.)
If you want to do something like have effect objects ontop of a table, you will want to make sure they are behind furres. If you want furres to be able to pick them up, you will want to switch to an object when it places in the paws.
There are many new lines of DragonSpeak that work with effects and some for KitterSpeak effects that you will want to check out.
There is an effect.fox with 199 effects that the Pixel Beekins worked on bringing to you. There's also an effectse.fox that you can use to add up to 799 new effects to!

1-4

Rain by Rat the Unloved

Animated rain in three densities; shower, sprinkle and heavy rain. There is also a night rain effect. These rain effects are about a square wide and 4 squares high, and look best placed in rows.

5-6

Snow by Majas

Animated snow in two densities; heavy and light. Use this to make it winter in your dream. These can be tiled, or placed carefully for a lighter effect.

Sleet by Heimdall

Animated sleet in a large cover effect. It is more than a square wide and seven squares high. You will want to place this one carefully!

8-9

Wind by Rew

Animated swirly wind from west to east. One whips leaves across the screen.

10-11

Ground mist by Heimdall

The first one is not animated, and the second one is. They can be tiled for a heavy effect or placed carefully.

Mist from (Default patch)

This is not an animated effect. This mist comes up to most furres' shoulders.

Fog by Emmie

This is a single tile of fog for a overall foggy effect in your dream. This will cover trees, walls, and other large objects.

Ground mist by Heimdall

This is an animated mist that covers the ground.

Clouds by Heimdall

These are puffy bobbing clouds that reach about waist height on a furre. They are meant to be walked or flown through, and match the cloud floor tiles in coloration.

Storm cloud by Rew

This animated cloud has a dark shadow that goes over furres. Occasionally, one can see the flash of lightning within it. This is a great shape to pair with lightning, rain, and a rainbow to create a weather scene!
